Ride On Super Sound is a volunteer-staffed, cooperatively owned and operated shop specialising in new and second-hand vinyl, cassettes, comics, zines, weird books, band t-shirts, posters and assorted rock’n’roll ephemera. It is also home to a small but perfectly-formed experimental record cutting facility, a broken photocopier, a salvaged risograph printer and an elaborate spreadsheet system that tracks the merchandise of more than 100 New Zealand musicians, cartoonists and zinesters. Ride On Super Sound is humanity's last, best hope.
Ride On Super Sound commenced trading on Saturday November 3rd, 2018 at 336 St Asaph Street in Christchurch, New Zealand, in the same building as legendary music venue and drinking spot Darkroom. Fem Screm Lit fireworks in the alley. Ride On Super Sound remains open at various hours between Thursday evening and Sunday afternoon, and occasionally on other randomly-assigned days, and by appointment or chance.
Ride On Super Sound encourages you to visit, and urges you to create your own records, zines, comics, shirts and posters, because Ride On Super Sound loves all of those things very much.
